Queer migration: Past and Present

Show notes

Queer migration has challenged the heteronormative and cisnormative assumptions that have traditionally circumscribed both academic and activist discourses on migration. This panel focuses on the contemporary issues in the field of queer migration by accounting for the experiences of cross-border mobilities, displacement, and exile from an interdisciplinary and transnational perspective. The panelists will explore the themes of postcolonial colonial tensions in migration studies, trans* migrants and refugees, COVID-19, and the perspectives from queer affect, intimacy, and belonging.

This recording is from the conference titled "Navigating the Changing Times of Gender, Sexuality, and Migration in Europe,” organized in June 2023 in Berlin with the collaboration of the Humboldt University of Berlin and Heinrich Böll Foundation.

Panelists: B Camminga, Omar Kasmani, Sarah Scuzzarello, Yener Bayramoglu Moderation: Anna C. Korteweg
